The State Programme on multiple sclerosis

The State Programme on multiple sclerosis

As in most countries, multiple sclerosis is one of the pressing public health problems in Azerbaijan.

The “State Programme on the Treatment and Prevention of Multiple Sclerosis and Measures to Combat It for 2018–2022” was prepared as a continuation of the “State Programme on the Treatment and Prevention of Multiple Sclerosis and Measures to Combat It” covering 2013–2017, which had been drawn up and implemented pursuant to Decree No. 606 of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated 9 April 2012 “On the application of Law No. 303-IVQ of the Republic of Azerbaijan dated 7 March 2012 ‘On State Care for Persons with Multiple Sclerosis’”. The main aim of the Programme is to raise the standard of medical care provided to people with multiple sclerosis.

The adoption in our country of the “State Programme on the Treatment and Prevention of Multiple Sclerosis and Measures to Combat It” has created all the necessary conditions for expanding the scope of examination and treatment of people with this disease in state medical institutions, improving their quality of life, and improving their supply of injectable treatments and medicines, including highly effective drugs.

Note: The State Programme discussed in this article covered 2018–2022. For up-to-date information on the state support, medicine supply and application procedures currently in force for people with multiple sclerosis, we recommend asking your doctor or the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
